India has made rapid strdes in the field of agricultural Research and Education Green revolution witnessed the  use of plant protection umbrella for new varieties and hybrids. Plant pathology has been an Integral part of  plant protection. The subject, which was once taught as signal paper in. M.Sc. Botany, has grown exponentially.  In Agricultural Universities separate departments came into existence. The courses encompass all the branches  like Mycology, Bacteriology, Virology and Nematology.  This book has been formatted to cover several aspects of plant pathology to cater to the need of student at  graduate and post - graduate level. Several courses are offered at graduate level and it is difficult to have  separate books for each course. Therefore, abroad treatment of the subject has given here to cover wide - range of   topics.
