Nanotechnology: A Fundamental Approach
Nanotechnology is defined as research and development at the atomic , molecular and macromolecular levels at the scale of approximately 1-100 nanometer range to provide a fundamental understanding of phenomena and materials at the nanoscale and to create and use structure, devices and systems that have novel properties and function because of their small and/or intermediate size. Therefore, it is and art of manipulating matter, atom by atom.
Nanotechnology will make possible the realization of mankind noblest aspirations and his darkest nightmares. How we handle, or mishandle, nanotech will determine the fate of this planet, and the destiny of Mankind.
There are two kind of Nanotechnology: Structural nanotechnology and Molecular nanotechnology. Nanotechnology also includes DNA computing, molecular nanotechnology, quantum nanotechnology and optical of particle wave based nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is the molecular manufacturing and will revolutionize physical technology. Using nanosystems, better and cheaper products can be obtained by using conventional materials. In the future we can expect computer controlled molecular machines much smaller than a speck of dust that have the accuracy and precision of todays target at the cellular and molecular level.
