Agriculture is the main enterprise for more than 50 per cent of Indian population and plays a vital role in feeding the world's growing population. With diverse climatic conditions, all most all crops are grown extensively throughout India. As the demand for food continues to rise due to expanding urbanization and climate change challenges, the science and practice of crop production must evolve to meet these needs. Green and yellow revolution has changed the status of Indian Agriculture from begging bowl to one of the exporters.
But the darker side of green revolution has brought various ill effects in agriculture including pollutions. To overcome this issue, one should think of sustainability and profitability of agriculture. In this regard this book is prepared in a way that it helps the students, scientists and farming community to obtain high profit while maintaining sustainability as recommended by sixth dean's committee of ICAR. This book provides comprehensive information on cultivation aspects of major kharif cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fibre and fodder crops for sustainable farming methods that are shaping the future of crop production.
