Hi-tech horticulture is a technology which is recent, less environment-dependent and capital intensive but with a capacity to improve productivity and farmers' profits. In the new era of changing scenario, hi-tech horticulture has become requirement so as to uphold productivity and economic stability of the Indian farmers.
Ensuring the nutritional and aesthetic security and fulfill the demand of 135 crores population of country, hi-tech approaches would be incorporated in production of horticultural crops for enhancing productivity and quality. The food habits of peoples are now changing and demand of value added and processed products are increased day by day therefore, integration of hi-tech approaches in value addition of fruits and vegetables are the need of hour for production of hygiene and quality products.
