The objective of this book is to present many of the important principles of milk production in a simple and direct manner. The historical aspects of the subject have been given scant attention. On the other hand, emphasis has been placed on modern methods of dairy farming. The principles which are needed as guides in the establishment of a profitable dairy enterprise under present-day conditions have been carefully explained. Detailed directions for minor procedures in the care and management of the herd have been purposely omitted, for such operations are best learned through actual experience in working with dairy cattle.
