Advances In Plant Hormones Research: Indian Scenario
In this volume, the current state of knowledge and the recent developments in some areas of plant growth substances are reviewed. Special attention is devoted to the studies done in Indian and also on Indian species. Prof. S.M. Sircar compiled the available information entitled Plant Hormone Research in India in 1971. The present volume reviews more than 1600 publications till 1998 with a bias towards Indian studies. Major emphasis is on the applied aspects which are often neglected in most of the texts on the subject. The present discussion will help the breeders, agriculturists to have a broader view of the various metabolic and yield processes in divergent crops pertinent to plant growth hormones.
The book is divided into ten sections, namely Introduction, terminology, Methods of applications and evaluations of responses of growth regulators; Determination of Plant Hormones; Biosynthesis and metabolism of plant hormones; Growth retardants; Mechanism of action in Section A. In Section B are included, Isolation and quantification of growth hormones in Indian plant species; Hormones and their Physiological effect and Growth Yield and Production.
