Agricultural Higher Education, Research And Extension In India
Indian agriculture, albeit its status as the largest enterprise, has remained as an unorganized sector. Agricultural Situation in India has moved from an era of chronic shortage in food during the 1960s to a level of food-sufficiency, buffer stock and even exports of food from 1990s. To ascertain topmost priority to farm front, a high degree of emphasis was accorded towards developing national capacity wherein along with infrastructure, a far greater role of (i) agricultural higher education, (ii) research in agriculture, and (iii) agricultural extension has been continuously realized and emphasized. Besides, all-pervasive globalization forced us to a paradigm shift to the improvement of efficiency from enhancing production. In this backdrop, 13 chapters have been placed sequentially. The entire Volume thus provides insight into separate but interrelated aspects on “AGRICULTURAL HIGHER EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND EXTENSION IN INDIAâ€. It is assumed to be an authoritative outcome of much needed for recent time. Each aspect has been discussed with meticulous details and much precision.
