Empowerment of women is the recent interest of scientists, planners and policy makers and women in India. Research and extension activities are being made through out the globe to empower the women in various facets of development. There is a need to evolve appropriate means and ways to empower them. The authors have made attempt to mention guiding principles, environmental aspects, and optimum use of available resources, social marketing, evaluation and monitoring of programmes designed for women empowerment. The concept of farming system research, land based enterprise; family welfare and transfer of technology are interwoven variables to accelerate the process of women empowerment. The book examines the socio-cultural background, government policy, role of development agencies and capacity building of individuals in deciding the women related programmes. Efforts have been made to define and operationalize different concepts on women issues based experience and research. We hope the book would be helpful those who are concerned with empowerment of women.
