Agricultural Extension: Impact And Assessment
Agriculture abroad may be merely a vocation, but for we the people of India, It is much more than that. It has been a way of life for us. For centuries, our culture, our festivals, our traditions and even our trade and business activities were strongly linked to Agriculture. Even now 70 per cent of our population resides in villages and its occupation continues to be predominantly agricultural. Barring China in no other country of the world, do so many people depend entirely on agriculture for their livelihood. And now when the world is bracing up to take a plunge into 21st century, and we talk of ushering into a computer age millennium, we continue to have hunger and malnutrition in astronomic proportions. About 30 per cent of population still lives below the poverty line and around 72 million families spend the better part of their lives scrounging for a square meal.
