The principal objective of this book is to serve as a text for students of a general course in farm structures. It follows closely the pattern of such a course taught by the author and offered to students of agriculture.
In addition to its use as a text, it is hoped that the book will be a helpful reference for teachers of vocational agriculture and serve as a useful guide to builders, farmers, and all others who might have a general interest in the farm structures field.
In view of the rapid developments and changes that are taking place in the farm structures field, information is presented on standard methods of construction together with the newer developments that would appear to have the widest adaptability to this field. The former should serves a background to prepare the student for critical analysis of many of our present building problems. With this understanding, he may be better prepared to help in bringing about the many changes and improvements that are important to the business of farming. Information on the new developments should prepare the student to keep apace of changes and assist in the future progress of the field.
