Endophytes: Diversity And Potential Agricultural Applications NEW
Endophytes, itself is a very vast topic that cannot be comprehended in a single book. Microorganisms are the first to arrive and last to leave the earth and represent their prime importance in functioning all bio-geochemical cycles of the earth's atmosphere. The last few decades it has been witnessed increased production in the agriculture sector as a result of green evolution. This concept proved undoubtedly a boon for our agriculture sector. But as we know that every coin has two sides, the introduction of high yielding crops has increased our dependency on chemical-based agro eating crops. In ancient times farming was dependent on natural inputs whereas presently the concept of organic farming was arrived due to awareness in consumers for chemical-free food. The un-detachable component of organic farming is microorganisms. Plants interacting with soil encompass microorganisms that serve as motherhood crops by providing them nutrition and protection. The use of biofertilizers, biopesticides comprising agriculturally beneficial microorganisms keep the bio-geochemical cycle alive, by acting as miniature factories inside the soil and providing nutrients and metabolites when required. They exist as various groups of microbes including bacteria, fungi, cyanobacteria and endophytes.
The book address how plant growth is promoted by endophytes and other possible potential roles of endophytes as biofertilizer. The book will help research scholars working in the field of agriculture biotechnology, PG and UG students of biotech and/or microbiology field and especially for those working in the field of endophytes and reveal their potential role for agriculture development.
